Update: The Fall Creators Update broke this tweak on both laptops we tried it on. It looks like that’s now possible-unofficially, at least. At CES 2017, an HP representative told us that HP was looking at making it possible for users to choose between treating the touchpad as a Precision Touchpad and using the manufacturer-provided drivers. It not only worked on both laptops, it made the touchpads feel a lot better-in our opinion.

Read the manual for the system for the specific instructions or contact the manufacturers support for that laptop. Other laptops simply automatically disable the touchpad when you plug in an external mouse. Hi How to Disable the touchpad depends on which type of computer or touchpad you are using. Again, I know it is not another driver as has been suggested in other threads as nothing changed except my version of the OS. Please advise how I can return my laptop to how I want it to work. I'm pointed to outdated OS information or additional workaround drivers. Nothing else has changed, and no searches return working information. Prior to that, I had my touchpad disabled as I use an external device. I hope someone can help recently we installed Windows7 to our laptops.
